Using administrative data linked to W2 tax records, we study the long-term impacts of funding delays on the research workforce across different occupations.

To what extent can policy influence the volume and direction of research? We address this question by studying California’s decision in 2004 to invest $3 billion over 10 years towards stem cell research.
A package of ggplot themes and geoms loosely related to economics
I study the effect of short-term interactions on scientific collaboration and knowledge flows. Using variation in the timing of when reviewers serve together as reviewers for the NIH, I find that short-term interactions lead to an increase in citations between pairs of scientists.
